Knowing how to delete layers in Procreate can super helpful when creating designs. Deleting unused layers can help you organize your project better! I try to always keep my projects under 15 layers but it really depends on the project itself.

To keep your project under 15 layers you can merge layers together or delete unwanted layers. If you don’t know how to merge layers check out my tutorial HERE, otherwise keep reading to learn how to delete layers. Let’s get started!

1. Go to the Layers Panel

This is can be accessed by tapping the icon at the top left of your Procreate toolbar that looks like two squares stacked on top of each other.

2. Tap on a Layer

Take your pointer finger or your apple pencil and select the layer you want to delete. It will turn blue once selected.

3. Swipe left on the layer

Take your pointer finger and swipe left on that blue selected layer. Three options pop up, Lock, Duplicate, and Delete.

4. Tap ‘Delete’

A red delete button should be visible, press that to delete the layer.

PRO TIP: If you accidentally delete the wrong layer, don’t worry just immediately undo.

Don’t know how to undo? Don’t worry! Watch my easy tutorial on how to Undo & Redo in Procreate HERE.
