Knowing how to fill objects in Procreate is a huge time saver when working on extremely complex projects but can also be utilized for quick doodles as well. It takes the tedium out of designing which is amazing in itself. This tool is essential to learn because it’s used in every project you’ll ever do in Procreate. Let me show you how to use it!

1. Tap on the Color Panel icon

This is the round circle in the top right of your toolbar. This houses all of your color palettes and color settings.

2. Select the color you want

You can use your color disc to choose your fill color. Or you can choose from your already made color palettes. Up to you. Make sure the color you want is inside the circle at the top right of your screen (that’s how you know you’ve selected it).

3. Tap on Color Panel icon again

PRO TIP: Make sure the object is on its own layer for a more precise fill.

4. Hold down Apple Pencil and drag into desired object

Put your pencil on the Color Panel icon and hold it down. Then drag your pencil onto an object in your canvas. After that, you can release your hold on the pencil.

5. Color will automatically fill inside of object

Repeat steps 1-5 for all other objects you want to fill in your canvas.

PRO TIP: If you want to add partial fill to an object you’ll need to use Clipping Mask or Alpha Lock.
