Have you ever wanted to know how to lock layers in Procreate? The process is actually pretty simple. At first glance it might seem impossible but once you know where the hidden lock feature is you will be good to go. Let’s dive in!

1. Go to the Layers Panel

This is can be accessed by tapping the icon at the top left of your Procreate toolbar that looks like two squares stacked on top of each other.

2. Tap on a Layer

Take your pointer finger or your apple pencil and select the layer you want to delete. It will turn blue once selected.

3. Swipe left to lock layers

Take your pointer finger and swipe left on that blue selected layer. A few buttons will pop up as you do this, Lock, Duplicate, and Delete.

4. Tap ‘Lock’

Press the button that says ‘Lock’ to lock the layer. Locking the layer means you are unable to make changes to its contents. I love to lock the base layer of a design so I don’t accidentally mess it up.

PRO TIP: If you accidentally lock the wrong layer, don’t worry just immediately undo by swiping left again and taping unlock.
