Learning to make straight lines in Procreate is so helpful. It opens up a realm of so many new possibilities. You can take your designs and illustrations so much further by using this feature. So, today I’m going to show you how to do this. Let’s get started!

1. Choose a monoline brush

Any monoline brush in your Brush Library will work great! You can use a brush with variation in weight but it won’t give you that perfectly straight look.

2. Turn on 2D Grids

If you don’t know how to turn on your 2D Grid check out my tutorial HERE on how to do this.

PRO TIP: Turn on Assisted Drawing to get even more symmetrical lines

3. Draw a line with your Apple Pencil

Start drawing your line horizontally along one of the grid lines. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just draw the best line you can and DO NOT LET GO.

4. Keep holding your Apple Pencil down

You are should see your line SNAP into a perfectly straight line. That’s how you know you did it correctly. Once you see it snap you can let go of it. Or you can actually adjust your line by moving your pencil around (see video below).

5. Repeat!
