Learning how to use Color Drop and Swatch Drop in Procreate is truly essential to the design process for all of your projects. Most people don’t even realize these game-changing tools exist! That’s why today I’m going to walk you through how to use both of them so you can speed up your workflow like crazy!
Let’s dive in.
To get to it go to the top left on your toolbar and tap on the colored circle.
Choose a color from your Color Disc to use by tapping directly on the disc with your Apple Pencil.
Take your Apple Pencil and hold down on that colored circle in the top right of the toolbar (the one from step 1). Then drag the color onto your object.

You should see a few category option on the bottom of your Color Panel. Tap on the ‘Palettes’ category.
Pick one of your custom or default palettes to work with. If you don’t have any you like feel free to check out my Procreate Color Palettes in my shop!
Take your Apple Pencil and tap and hold down on a swatch (single color) in your palette.
Without lifting up your pencil drag the swatch onto your object in your canvas you want to color.
PRO TIP: Swatch Drop is great for when you have a LOT of different color palettes because it keeps the Palettes window open on your specific palette and eliminates the need to reopen and re-scroll through all of your palettes each time you need a new swatch color. Talk about GAME CHANGING!
